The story of BacktoZero began not with a business plan, but with a quiet refusal to settle for the mediocre.
I have always been a seeker of ritual. To me, a wax seal is more than a tool; it is a physical punctuation mark at the end of a thought—a way to tether a fleeting emotion to the tangible world. However, as I searched for seals that mirrored the gravity of the messages they were meant to protect, I found only disappointment.

The market was flooded with the shallow and the mundane. The carvings lacked depth; the motifs felt hollow. Even the most iconic symbols, such as the Fleur-de-lis, had been stripped of their regal posture and historical soul. They were mere shadows of what a seal should be.
I could not settle. So, I began to create.

My first designs were born from a personal obsession with what I call "pure and unburdened beauty." I wanted seals with a sculptural weight—where you could feel the profound depth of the engraving and watch the interplay of light and shadow within the wax. I wanted the act of sealing to feel like a ceremony, not a chore.
What started as a private rebellion against the mediocre soon found its way to kindred spirits. Years later, what was once a solitary pursuit has evolved into a sanctuary for those who believe that if the beauty you seek does not exist, you have a responsibility to bring it into the world.
The name Backtozero reflects a journey back to the essential—a return to the point where "pure and unburdened beauty" begins. In a world that is often cluttered, loud, and overly functional, "Zero" isn't a lack of something; it is the ultimate starting point.

The Courage to Rebuild: Most importantly, it carries the mantra: "Don't be afraid to go back to zero; it's a chance to rebuild what you want." It treats "starting over" not as a failure, but as a rare opportunity to design a life and a craft with more intention and clarity than before.
The Return to Manual Ritual: It signifies stripping away the digital noise and returning to the "zero point" of human creation—where it’s just your hands, the wax, the heat, and the paper.
The Pursuit of Pureness: It captures the philosophy that beauty doesn't need to be "useful" to be vital. By going back to zero, you remove the "burden" of modern expectations, leaving only the intrinsic value of the object itself.

A Blank Slate for Expression: Just like the Translucent or Cream wax in your palette, "Zero" represents the quiet space necessary for self-reflection, whether you are knitting, crocheting, or writing in your diary. It is the silence before the first word is spoken.

This is my invitation to you: Do not settle for the shallow. Seal your truths with the depth they deserve.
